Getting started in Footium is quick. You can create an account, choose a club, and begin managing without needing extra software or complicated setup.

Everyone starts the same way. You sign up, pick from four available clubs, and enter the game as a Caretaker Manager. From there, you can set tactics, manage matches, complete objectives, and decide later whether you want to upgrade to permanent club ownership.

Step 2: Choose how to sign in

Footium supports simple account creation. The current guide lists these sign-in options:

Choose the method you are most comfortable using. If you use email, make sure you can access that inbox, as it may be used for account verification, updates, reminders, and other account-related messages.

🧠 Set your lineup and formation

Your line-up is the foundation of every Footium match. A strong squad can underperform if players are used in the wrong roles, while a well-balanced team with good chemistry, condition and leadership can outperform its raw ratings. Since each season has 22 daily matches, your job is not only to pick the best XI today, but to manage a squad that can stay competitive across the whole season.

Start with your squad strengths

Go to the Tactics page and look at the players available for the next match. Footium offers a wide range of formations, including different versions of familiar shapes. Some formations use more defenders, some use wide players, and others place more emphasis on central midfield or forwards. There is no single best formation. The best choice is usually the one that lets your strongest and most suitable players play in their most familiar positions.

For example, if your squad has several good centre backs and limited wingers, a more defensive formation may be sensible. If you have strong wide attackers and enough cover in midfield, a more aggressive shape may suit you. The key is to avoid forcing too many players into unfamiliar roles just because a formation looks attractive.

🏟️ Stadiums and FC

Every Footium club has a stadium, and stadium development is one of the clearest ways to grow your club over time. Your stadium is made up of four independent stands. Two are long side stands, East and West, running along the length of the pitch. Two are short side stands, North and South, behind the goals. Each stand has a size and a material.

Size affects capacity, FC earnings and home match performance. Material is cosmetic only. It changes how your stadium looks, but it does not affect earnings or performance.

Stand sizes and capacity

There are five stand sizes: XS, S, M, L and XL. Long stands hold more supporters than short stands at every tier.

Your total capacity is the sum of all four stands. A brand new stadium with all XS stands has 1,500 capacity. A fully upgraded stadium with XL on all four stands reaches 70,000.

Materials are visual choices. There are six: Wood, Brick, Stone, Metal, Dark Metal and Post-Modern. Higher stand sizes unlock more advanced materials.

Becoming a Club Owner is the permanent route in Footium. It gives you long-term control of your club, unlocks deeper progression, and lets you build across seasons rather than simply managing as a free Caretaker.

You can start Footium for free, learn the game as a Caretaker Manager, and upgrade later if you decide you want full ownership.

What ownership means

As a Club Owner, your club becomes a long-term project. You can shape its future through squad building, academy development, training, transfers, stadium upgrades, and seasonal competition.

Ownership can unlock features such as:

🔰 Play for free as a Caretaker Manager

Caretaker Manager is the free way to start Footium. It lets you manage a club for a season, learn the main systems, compete in daily league matches, and decide later whether you want permanent club ownership.

You do not need to buy a club to begin. Sign up, choose from four available clubs, and you can start managing straight away.

What you can do as a Caretaker

As a Caretaker Manager, you are not just watching from the sidelines. You can take real management actions, including:

Set your line-up
Choose your formation
Pick your captain
Train and improve players where available
Make tactical decisions during live matches
Compete for league position
Complete objectives and milestones
Learn how condition, chemistry, player roles, and tactics work

This makes Caretaker mode the best first step if you are new. You can understand the rhythm of a Footium season before deciding whether ownership is right for you.

How long does Caretaker play last?

A Footium season contains 22 league matches. Each league has 12 clubs, and every club plays every other club twice. There is usually one match per day during the season.

As a Caretaker, you can manage your chosen club across the season. At the end of the season, you go through a continuation flow. This lets you decide whether to keep managing the same club where available, choose a different club, or consider upgrading.

🧬 Academy Campus upgrades

Your Academy Campus develops future players for your club.

Every club has eight academy buildings. Each building has its own level from Level 0 to Level 5. Upgrades are paid in FC and persist across seasons.

Use academy upgrades to improve the type, quality and control of your future intakes.

Academy Office: improves the minimum potential of normal prospects
Performance Centre: guarantees a minimum stamina level

Training Pitches

Cost group: Core impact.

Training Pitches raise the floor of your prospects' current rating. Your division still sets the overall rating band, but stronger Training Pitches stop weaker prospects arriving at the bottom of that band.

Benefits by level:

Level 0: 2 lower than your division's normal minimum
Level 1: 1 lower than your division's normal minimum
Level 2: your division's normal range
Level 3: 1 higher than your division's normal minimum
